Accounting Manager
Temporary Full-Time (Maternity leave, 18-month contract)
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Manager to join our organization. This is a temporary role to cover a maternity leave for an 18-month period. In this role, you will be responsible for managing daily accounting tasks including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes. The position will work closely with our client management teams in budget tracking and ensure monthly client billings are executed in an accurate and timely manner.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, an eye for detail, and a commitment to ensuring financial accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:
Process and verify invoices for payment.
Ensure timely payment to vendors while maintaining positive relationships.
Oversee the preparation and processing of weekly or bi-weekly payment runs, including checks, wire transfers, and ACH payments.
Reconciliation of AP aging and review AP reports to ensure accuracy.
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.
Maintain accurate records of all transactions.
Accounts Receivable:
Prepare and send customer / client invoices promptly.
Monitor aging accounts and follow up on overdue payments.
Reconcile and report on accounts receivable status.
Prepare AR-related month-end close entries, reconciliation and financial reporting.
Payroll:
Process and manage employee payroll on a bi-weekly schedule.
Ensure accurate deductions and benefits contributions.
Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations.
Prepare and distribute payroll reports as needed.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration or related field
Minimum 3+ years of accounting experience
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Proficiency in accounting software and Excel (QuickBooks, ADP, Hubdoc, Plooto)
Proficiency in budget tracking and management for multiple client accounts to ensure accurate records and reporting.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
We offer a flexible hybrid work environment. Team members are expected to be on-site at our Toronto office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the option to work remotely the rest of the week.
